Fierce & Unequal Combat
by K. Gordon Green
When aptly named Toronto urologist Dr. Henry Spiggott embarks on a quixotic questto hunt down that most elusive and fabled denizen of Canada’s north, the mythical creature known as a moosethe result is a Shakespearean romp through forest and swamp. Fans of Green’s previous offbeat humour (The Raven & I) will not be disappointed here: Spiggott and his band of quirky companions negotiate their unfamiliar environment with a mixture of dignity and ineptitude that transforms this epic tale into a classical comedy of errors.
Praise for The Raven & I:
“This love story about a boat’s way with a man should become a Canadian classic.”
MAVOR MOORE, former chair, Canada Council for the Arts
“. . . a wild and woolly saga! . . . a very strong contender for next year’s Leacock Award.”
MAX FERGUSON, original ‘Rawhide’ host on CBC Radio
“. . . a very good book . . . hugely amusing to anyone who enjoys the Canadian summer.”

About the Author
Gordon Green attended the Harvard Business School and spent much of his investment banking career peddling financial wares through the canyons of Wall Street and Bay Street. Green's irreverence occasionally landed him in deeper water than did his venerable wooden power boat Raven, a fast and porous craft that was the subject of his first book, The Raven & I. Green now lives on Vancouver Island in a happy arrangement with his wife Diana and their rot-proof fiberglass Limestone 24.
