A Whistler Bear Story
by Sylvia Dolson and Katherine Fawcett
Meet the real black bears of WhistlerJeanie, Katie, Marissa, Fitz and Slip among others. They den near our favourite ski runs, graze in open meadows under chairlifts, munch on grass on local golf course fairways and devour berries alongside mountain bike trails. And sometimes, to their misfortune, they come into town, raid garbage bins, eat berries in people’s yards, and even break into homes and restaurants looking for food.
A Whistler Bear Story features 78 stunning photographs taken by Sylvia Dolson, executive director of Get Bear Smart Society and leader in mitigating human-bear conflicts. Dolson, along with award-winning writer Katherine Fawcett, presents a fascinating historical overview of the human-bear relationship in Whistler and around the world. It’s an intriguing story for locals, visitors, and bear-lovers everywhere.

Everyone's Guide to Atoms, Einstein, and the Universe by Robert L. Piccioni, Ph.D.
You don’t have to be a great musician to appreciate great music. Nor do you need to be a great scientist to appreciate the exciting discoveries and intriguing mysteries of our universe.
If you can change dollars into euros, you can understand the meaning of Einstein’s most famous equation E=mc². And, you can understand black holes, relativity, quantum mechanics, and the Big Bang.
Dr. Robert Piccioni brings the excitement of modern scientific discoveries to general audiences. He makes the key facts and concepts understandable without “dumbing” them down. He presents them in a friendly, conversational manner, and includes many personal anecdotes about the people behind the science.
